''Burke's Irish Family Records'' states that Jeffrey Browning purchased Carass Court, from Lord Carbery. Leet records Jeffrey Browning as the proprietor of Carass Park in 1814. Jeffrey/Geoffrey Browning was married to Frances, sister of Sir David Roche, 1st Baronet. By the time of Griffith's Valuation Thomas Wise Browning was the occupier and he held the property, valued at £50, from Sir David Roche. The Brownings were still resident at Carass Court in the 1940s but the house was later demolished. |

Lough Hyne House (Cottage)

Jane Matthews was leasing this property from Lady Carbery's estate at the time of Griffith's Valuation, when it was valued at £16 5s. Lewis indicated that in 1837 it was the seat of D. McCarty. It was labelled as Lough Hyne Cottage on the 1st edition 6-inch Ordnance Map but on the later 25-inch edition is labelled Lough Hyne House. The National Inventory of Architectural Heritage suggests it was originally built as a sporting lodge. The property is still extant and used as holiday accommodation. |

Cappercullen

Tierney writes that Lord Carbery built this house in 1717. It was inhabited by the Grady family in the latter half of the 18th century and Wilson refers to it as their seat in 1786. It was in ruins by the time of the first Ordnance Survey. The site of this house is now the tennis court at Glenstal. |

Lewis notes Baltimore Castle as the residence of Mrs. Freke in 1837. The building labelled Baltimore House on the 1st and 25-inch edition Ordnance Survey maps is still extant. Baltimore Castle is an older, seventeenth century building which has recently been restored. |

Castle Freke

At the time of Griffith's Valuation, it was held in fee by Lady Carbery and valued at £90. In 1906 it was held by the trustees of Lord Carbery and valued at £136 . The existing building at Castlefreke was constructed at the end of the eighteenth century, replacing an earlier castle which had belonged to the Barry family, the original owners of the estate. It was modified in the late nineteenth century but subsequently gutted by fire in 1910 and restored by 1913. It was sold by John, 10th Lord Carbery, after WWI. In the early 1940s the Irish Tourist Association survey reported that it was unoccupied but in good repair and owned by the Land Commission. Castlefreke fell into ruin throughout the twentieth century but a portion of it has since been restored |

His mother was Jane Evans-Freke, a daugher of the 1st Lord Carbery. He was later to succeed to the title of Baron Aylmer. By the 1890s the building at the site has been divided into a school and the Constabulary barracks. A smaller building exists at the site now. |

Surmount/Sirmount

Sirmount was the residence of Emmanuel Moor in 1750. In 1786 Wilson refers to it as the seat of Mr. Hawkes. This house was occupied by G. Hawkes in 1837 and by Quaile Hawkes in the early 1850s. The property was held from Lady Carbery. The buildings were valued at £8.15 shillings. It is no longer extant. |

Drombeg was being leased by Catherine Jones from Lady Carbery's estate at the time of Griffith's Valuation, when it was valued at over £20. The sale notice of April 1852 includes a small lithograph of the house. In 1837 Lewis referred to Drombeg as the seat of Rev.Jonas Travers Jones. At the time of Griffith's Valuation, Francis Fitzmaurice was leasing two substantial houses at Sackville Street, Dunmanway, from Martha and Catherine Cox. One of these, valued at over £18, was leased to Rev Robert Molesworth, while Fitzmaurice was occupying the second, valued at over £15. In 1944 the Irish Tourist Association Survey referred to Carbery House "formerly occupied by Lord Carbery and now the residence of Mr. Smith". It is still extant. |
